We played a variety of probability games. We started with flipping a coin, and finding the probability of getting a heads or tails in 50 flips.
We moved on to "Roll a Dice", where students rolled and recorded their results on a tally chart. After completeling this individually, we put all the results together, and graphed it using Microsoft Excel. The students got an instant visual display of the data and were absolutely fascinated!
We later tried the same activity with Rock, Paper, Scissors - a common DPA game at my school. Even though we always think Rock is the most powerful, we learned that it's an equal chance for all 3.
Can't wait to try this again next year to see the "aha" moment all over again!
